Jean-Matteo Bahoya: Roma linked with move for Eintracht Frankfurt winger

France-Cameroon winger Jean-Matteo Bahoya of Eintracht Frankfurt has been linked with a move to Serie A side Roma as the Italian club explore wide attacking options this summer.

Bahoya, 21, is under contract with Frankfurt until 30 June 2029, meaning Roma would need to negotiate a transfer fee rather than pursue a cut-price deal. The left winger currently has an estimated value of around €25 million, underlining the scale of investment that could be required to prise him away from the Bundesliga club.

Frankfurt signed Bahoya from Angers SCO in January 2024 for €8 million after he progressed through the French side’s youth and reserve teams. Since moving to Germany he has established himself on the flank, operating mainly from the left while favouring his right foot, and has worn the number 19 shirt.

Born in Montfermeil on 7 May 2005, Bahoya is eligible to represent both France and Cameroon at international level, though his club form has been the primary focus of his rise to prominence. His rapid increase in market valuation from €2.5 million at the time of his transfer from Angers to Frankfurt to €25 million in May 2026 reflects his development over the past two seasons.

Bahoya’s long-term deal in Frankfurt, running for another three years beyond the upcoming campaign, places the German club in a strong position should Roma decide to formalise their interest. For now, he remains tied to Eintracht Frankfurt on a contract that gives the Bundesliga side significant leverage over his future.
