Egypt fully focused ahead of Brazil world Cup test-Mohamed Hany

Egypt defender Mohamed Hany says the Pharaohs are fully concentrated on their preparations ahead of a high-profile friendly against Brazil as they continue their build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Al Ahly right-back insisted that the squad remains focused on its objectives and is approaching the match with the seriousness required ahead of football’s biggest tournament.

“We are fully focused and have nothing on our minds except our work,” Hany told ON Sport.

Egypt will face five-time world champions Brazil on June 6 at Huntington Bank Field in what is expected to be one of their toughest tests before the World Cup kicks off across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The 29-year-old acknowledged the quality of the South American giants but stressed that Egypt have carefully analysed their opponents and are preparing thoroughly for the challenge.

“We are ready for the Brazil game. We study all our opponents carefully to identify their strengths and weaknesses,” Hany said.

“Brazil’s squad includes some of the best players in the world. There are no players better than them.”

Despite the stature of the opposition, Hany remains confident that Egypt can produce a strong performance and compete positively against one of world football’s traditional powerhouses.

“Not only me, but all the players will do their best to deliver a good performance. We will do everything we can to achieve a positive result regardless of the opponent’s name,” he added.

The Pharaohs head into the World Cup with growing optimism following a series of encouraging performances during their preparation campaign.

Egypt have been drawn in Group G alongside Belgium, New Zealand and Iran, with their tournament journey beginning against Belgium on June 15.

They will then face New Zealand on June 22 before concluding their group-stage fixtures against Iran on June 27.

For Hany, the opportunity to represent Egypt at the World Cup remains one of the proudest moments of his career.

“It is a dream for everyone to be here and represent the Egyptian national team,” he said.

The friendly against Brazil is expected to provide head coach Hossam Hassan with a valuable assessment of his squad’s readiness before the tournament begins, with Egypt aiming to arrive at the World Cup in strong form and capable of challenging the top teams on the international stage.
