Dembélé declares fitness ahead of champions league final

Ousmane Dembélé has reassured supporters that he will be fit in time for the UEFA Champions League final, where Paris Saint-Germain are set to face Arsenal FC on 30 May.

The French international had recently raised concern after being withdrawn from PSG’s match against Paris FC as a precaution, following discomfort in his calf muscle.

Club officials initially confirmed that the substitution was made to avoid aggravating a minor injury, with the player subsequently undergoing treatment in the days that followed.

However, Dembélé has now provided a positive update on his condition, easing fears of a possible absence from one of the biggest matches of the season.

Speaking to RMC Sport, he said: “I felt a bit worried during our game against Paris Saint-Germain, but I’m fine now and I’ll be ready for the Champions League final.”

He further added his intention to be available for selection when PSG face Arsenal in the final.

The winger said: “I hope to be on the pitch on May 30, if the coach chooses me.”

Paris Saint-Germain have continued to monitor his recovery closely since the initial injury concern, with medical staff expected to keep him under observation until the final.

The club had previously stated that Dembélé would continue rehabilitation work in the days leading up to the match, as a precautionary measure to ensure full fitness.

The Champions League final represents the culmination of PSG’s European campaign, with the French champions aiming to secure the trophy against an Arsenal side also in strong form throughout the tournament.

PSG head into the fixture after completing their domestic league campaign at the top of the table, finishing with 76 points and maintaining a six-point gap over second-placed Lens.

Their season concluded with a derby defeat against Paris FC, a match in which Dembélé’s injury concern first emerged.

Paris FC, meanwhile, ended their first top-flight campaign in 11th place after a solid debut season in the French league system.

Attention has now fully shifted to the Champions League final, where PSG will rely heavily on their attacking options, including Dembélé, should he be declared fully fit.

With just days remaining before the showdown in London, PSG supporters will be encouraged by the player’s optimistic assessment, although final confirmation will depend on the coaching and medical staff’s decision in the final training sessions.

Dembélé’s availability is seen as a key factor in PSG’s attacking plans as they aim to secure European glory against Arsenal at Wembley.
