Achraf Hakimi is set to hand Paris Saint-Germain a significant boost ahead of their Champions League final against Arsenal after reports indicated the Moroccan defender is close to returning to full training following injury concerns.
Relief has reportedly spread through the Paris Saint-Germain camp after fears over Hakimi’s availability for the European final dominated discussions in recent days. The right-back suffered a thigh injury during the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich, casting doubt over whether he would be fit in time for the decisive encounter.
However, according to the “Score” platform, Hakimi is now preparing to resume group training with the French side, giving coach Luis Enrique renewed optimism less than two weeks before the final.
Hakimi has become one of the most influential figures in the PSG squad because of his pace, attacking quality and tactical flexibility on the right flank. His performances have made him a key component in Luis Enrique’s system and an important figure among supporters, many of whom feared the team would struggle without him on the biggest stage of the season.
The defender’s return is also expected to reshape the coach’s tactical plans for the final. Reports suggest that Hakimi’s comeback would allow Fabian Ruiz to move back into midfield, while young midfielder Warren Zaire-Emery could lose his place in the starting line-up and return to the substitutes’ bench.
Hakimi’s influence on PSG’s season has been considerable. Across all competitions, the Moroccan international has played 31 matches, scoring three goals and providing nine assists in 2,499 minutes of action. His ability to contribute both defensively and offensively has strengthened his status as one of the club’s most reliable performers.
The 27-year-old also played a major role in what was described as Paris Saint-Germain’s historic sextuple-winning campaign last season, highlighted by the club securing the Champions League title for the first time in its history.
Despite his importance to the French champions, uncertainty continues to surround Hakimi’s long-term future in Paris. Although he remains under contract with PSG until 30 June 2029, speculation linking him with a return to Real Madrid has continued to gather attention.
Reports have suggested the Spanish giants could target the Moroccan defender next summer as a potential successor to Dani Carvajal on the right side of defence.
For now, though, PSG supporters appear focused on the immediate positive news surrounding Hakimi’s recovery, with the defender’s expected return arriving at a crucial moment as the club prepares for one of the most important matches of the season.
