Club Africain face Djoliba in CAF Champions League first-leg test

Club Africain will host Djoliba AC in the first leg of the first preliminary round of the CAF Champions League on Saturday, 5 September 2026, with kick-off at 18:00 GMT.

The match will be played at the Stade olympique Hammadi Agrebi in Rades, Tunisia. It will be broadcast on CAF TV, Watania 1 in Tunisia and Diwan Sport in Tunisia.

The Tunisian side go into the tie with home advantage and a strong start to their domestic campaign behind them. Club Africain have won both of their opening two league matches and will aim to carry that momentum into their first continental fixture of the season.

They will also be encouraged by their record against Djoliba AC in African competitions. The two clubs have met eight times, with Club Africain winning four of those matches. Djoliba have recorded two victories, while the remaining two games ended in draws, according to data from Transfermarkt.

That history gives Club Africain the statistical edge, although the tie brings together two teams who are both enjoying positive periods.

Djoliba arrive in Tunisia after completing a historic domestic double in Mali. They were crowned champions of Mali before adding the 2026 Mali Cup to their honours at the end of May.

Their cup triumph came through a controlled 2-0 victory over FC Diarra, giving the club further confidence before their return to continental competition.

Club Africain will be looking to use the atmosphere and familiarity of the Stade olympique Hammadi Agrebi to build an advantage before the second leg. Their aim will be to make a positive start and put pressure on Djoliba ahead of the return match.

Djoliba, meanwhile, will be attempting to leave Tunis with a result that keeps the contest evenly balanced. Their recent domestic success means they are also expected to approach the game with belief, despite playing away from home.

The match is therefore expected to be closely contested, with both sides arriving in strong form. Club Africain are regarded as the favourites, partly because of their home advantage and partly because of their greater experience in major African fixtures.

Africafoot’s prediction is a 2-1 victory for Club Africain.
