Burkina Faso have confirmed their squad for the 2026 WAFU B U20 Championship, with head coach Oscar Barro selecting a blend of home-based and overseas-based players for the regional tournament that also serves as qualification for the Africa U20 Cup of Nations.
The competition will be staged in Ivory Coast from 26 July to 9 August, with the Young Stallions drawn into a challenging Group B alongside regional heavyweights Ghana, Nigeria and Togo.
The tournament is one of the most important youth competitions in West African football, offering teams the opportunity to qualify for the 2026 Africa U20 Cup of Nations while also providing a platform for emerging talents to showcase themselves on the continental stage.
Burkina Faso’s squad reflects the country’s growing investment in youth football, with the majority of the selected players representing clubs in the domestic league, while several have already secured opportunities abroad in Brazil, France, Russia and neighbouring Ghana.
The goalkeeping department is led by Rahim Ouattara, who plays for Brazilian club Red Bull Bragantino, alongside Fousseni Kouraogo of AJEB and Cire Alassane Traoré from Rahimo FC.
In defence, coach Barro has mixed local experience with players developing overseas.
Among them are Abdoul Nafilssa Konaté, who features for Ghanaian side Vision Football Club, René Yannick W. Tiemtoré of Vista Academy in Russia, and Abdoul S. Ousmane Ouédraogo, who is attached to French club Amiens SC.
The remainder of the defensive unit includes players drawn from Vitesse FC, New Stars, JEK Bobo, Réal du Faso and USFA, highlighting the strength of Burkina Faso’s domestic development system.
Midfield responsibilities will be shared by nine players representing several clubs across the country.
Réal du Faso contributes both Quezen Eddie Kogo and Ismaël Zalle, while Rahimo FC is represented by Cherif Badra Ali Barro and Narcisse Abdoul K. Ouédraogo.
Sporting Football des Cascades has two representatives in Ben Hassane Junior Traoré and Mohamed Zongo, while Salitas FC, ASFB and CEFEB also have players included in the final squad.
Burkina Faso’s attacking options feature four forwards led by Asharaf Loukman Tapsoba of Réal du Faso. He is joined by Komi Séverin Enouwouklo from Majestic AC and AJEB duo Alassana Bagayogo and Wensoa Jean Romaric Somé.
