France international Youssouf Fofana, currently at AC Milan, has been linked with a summer move to Turkish side Besiktas as the Istanbul club explores options to strengthen its midfield.
The 27-year-old defensive midfielder, who also holds Malian nationality, is the subject of a rumoured approach from the Super Lig club, with the likelihood of a deal currently rated at 33%. Fofana is under contract at San Siro until 30 June 2028, meaning Milan would be in a strong position to demand a significant fee if Besiktas choose to firm up their interest. His current market valuation stands at €23m.
Fofana joined Milan from Monaco on 17 August 2024 in a transfer worth €26m, having seen his stock rise in Ligue 1 and on the European stage. Since arriving in Serie A he has added further top-level experience, including appearances in domestic and European competition, building on a Ligue 1 career that brought more than 170 outings.
Born in Paris and standing at 1.85m, Fofana has developed a reputation as a specialist in the holding role in front of the defence. He was part of the France squad that finished runners-up at the 2022 World Cup and previously won the French League Cup with Strasbourg, underlining his experience in high-pressure environments.
Besiktas are thought to be assessing the financial feasibility of any move given Milan’s contract security over the player, with the Italian club in no rush to sell a midfielder tied down for a further two years.
