Bayern have extended the contract of German youth international Kashiano-Kiala until 2030, rewarding the teenage defender after he became the second-youngest player to make a professional appearance in the club’s history.
The 17-year-old joined Bayern’s youth academy in the summer of 2024 after moving from Hertha BSC. He made his first-team debut in December last year, featuring under manager Kompany in Bayern’s 4-0 win over Heidenheim.
The long-term extension was officially announced by Bayern on 20 August. The agreement represents the club’s continued commitment to developing Kashiano-Kiala within its own structure and creating a pathway towards the senior team.
Bayern sporting director Freund said: “We are very optimistic about Kashiano’s potential and hope to gradually develop him into the first team. He is the second youngest player to make his debut in Bayern’s professional team history and has also captained the German U17 national team, possessing all the conditions to establish himself at Bayern. Last season he was plagued by injuries, and now we look forward to him taking the next steps in his development.”
Kashiano-Kiala’s progress has already taken him beyond club football. He has captained the German U17 national team, adding international experience to his achievements at Bayern despite his age.
His first-team opportunity came during a convincing victory over Heidenheim, when Bayern recorded a 4-0 result under Kompany. That appearance made him the second-youngest player to represent Bayern’s professional team, an indication of the standing he has earned within the club’s youth system.
However, his development was disrupted by injuries last season. Freund acknowledged that setback while expressing Bayern’s expectation that the defender can now continue moving forward and take further steps towards establishing himself with the senior side.
The contract extension keeps Kashiano-Kiala at Bayern through 2030 and gives the club a lengthy period in which to support his progression. Bayern’s statement and Freund’s comments underline the belief that he possesses the qualities required to become a first-team player.
