Al Ahly sign Egypt left-back Tawfik Mohamed from Petrojet for €517,000

Egyptian left-back Tawfik Mohamed has joined Al Ahly from Petrojet for €517,000, completing a move between two Premier League clubs.

Mohamed, 26, arrives after four years with Petrojet, having joined the club from Ajman Academy on a free transfer in August 2022. The defender has now switched to Al Ahly as part of the club’s 2026-27 squad-building plans.

A left-footed full-back, Mohamed made 35 Premier League appearances for Petrojet, providing two assists and playing 3,000 minutes. His record also includes appearances in the Egyptian League Cup, the Egypt Cup and domestic play-off competitions.

He featured seven times in the Egyptian League Cup and made four appearances in the Egypt Cup. Mohamed also played in five relegation play-off matches and four championship play-off games, taking his recorded total across those competitions to 55 appearances.

The move gives Al Ahly an experienced domestic option at left-back, with Mohamed’s playing profile suited to a role on the left side of the defence. His preference for his left foot further defines the position he is likely to occupy within the squad.

Mohamed’s market value was listed at €400,000 before the transfer, while the agreed fee places the deal above that figure. The fee is the only stated financial term of the move, with no contract length provided.

His arrival also marks the next step in a career that began with Ajman Academy before he moved to Petrojet in 2022. At Petrojet, he established a record spanning league, cup and play-off football before securing his move to one of Egypt’s leading clubs.

Al Ahly and Petrojet are both based in Egypt’s Premier League, meaning Mohamed remains in the same domestic competition while moving to a new club. The transfer was completed on 15 August 2026, with Al Ahly paying €517,000 for the 26-year-old defender.

Mohamed has therefore left Petrojet after four seasons and is now an Al Ahly player.
