Al Ahly have completed contract extensions for first-team players Mohamed Abdullah and Karim El-Debis, with both footballers committing their futures to the Egyptian club until 2030 as preparations continue for the new season.
The agreements also include improved financial terms for the pair, who recently returned from loan spells at Ceramica Cleopatra. The renewals form part of the club’s efforts to strengthen the squad ahead of the upcoming Egyptian League campaign.
A source at Al Ahly told the WinWin platform that the players had already signed new four-season contracts.
He added: “The duo’s contracts were financially amended, extending until 2030, after Karim El-Debis and Mohamed Abdullah spent a loan period at Ceramica Cleopatra Club.”
The source also indicated that more contract renewals are expected to follow in the coming hours as the club continues to secure the futures of members of its first-team squad.
Among those expected to sign a new agreement is Mohamed Hany, with an announcement regarding his contract extension anticipated shortly.
The latest developments come as Al Ahly step up preparations for the new domestic season, with the club scheduled to depart for Spain on Thursday to begin the third phase of its pre-season programme.
The first-team delegation will travel on a regular commercial flight and will be headed by board member Tarek Kandil. The training camp will be held behind closed doors as the coaching staff focuses on preparing the squad before the start of the Egyptian League season.
During their stay in Spain, Al Ahly have arranged a series of friendly matches designed to increase the players’ fitness levels and sharpen their competitive edge before competitive football resumes.
The Egyptian side are due to play Spanish club Badalona in an afternoon fixture before concluding their programme with a high-profile friendly against Barcelona on 19 August.
Several members of Al Ahly’s board of directors are expected to travel to Spain later in the camp to attend the Barcelona match. The delegation is set to leave on 17 August under the leadership of club treasurer Khaled Mortagy, accompanied by Ahmed Hossam Awad, Ibrahim Al-Amry, Mohamed Al-Garhy and Mohamed Al-Damaty.
A separate club source also disclosed further details about the Spanish training camp, describing it as an environment specifically selected to maximise the team’s focus during pre-season.
According to the source, the camp will take place in Montaña, located in the town of Ceva, approximately 60 to 70 kilometres from Barcelona.
The training complex includes two football pitches, one with a natural grass surface and another with artificial turf, providing flexibility for the coaching staff throughout the camp.
The venue has previously welcomed established clubs including Espanyol and Swansea City for training camps, reflecting its reputation as a suitable destination for professional pre-season preparation.
The source stressed that the location had been chosen because of its secluded nature, allowing players and staff to concentrate fully on training sessions, tactical meetings and friendly fixtures without distractions.
Al Ahly’s pre-season schedule, which includes three friendly matches, is expected to provide an important test of the squad before the new campaign begins. Alongside the long-term contract renewals for Mohamed Abdullah and Karim El-Debis, the club continues to build for the future while finalising preparations both on and off the pitch.
