Clubs make progress in direct negotiations
Officials from Al Ahly and Maghreb de Fès recently held their first face-to-face meeting after weeks of negotiations conducted through intermediaries.
The direct talks are understood to have moved the deal significantly closer, although both clubs are still working to finalise the remaining details.
The biggest obstacle remains the financial package.
Release clause remains sticking point
Maghreb de Fès have maintained that any transfer must meet Benjdida’s $4 million release clause, with the Moroccan club unwilling to lower its valuation.
Al Ahly, meanwhile, are attempting to reach a compromise by proposing a deal with a lower upfront payment supplemented by performance-related bonuses.
The Egyptian giants hope the revised structure will satisfy MAS while allowing them to secure one of their priority attacking targets.

Away from the negotiations between the clubs, Al Ahly head coach Hussein Ammouta has reportedly spoken directly with Benjdida.
The Moroccan tactician outlined the club’s sporting project and explained the role he expects the striker to play should the move be completed.
The discussions form part of Al Ahly’s efforts to convince the forward that Cairo is the ideal destination for the next stage of his career.
Europe still preferred option
Despite the progress made in negotiations, the transfer has not yet been finalised.
