Al Ahly bank dismisses merger reports with Al Mansoura

Al Ahly Bank Club has rejected widespread reports suggesting a potential merger with Al Mansoura SC ahead of the upcoming season, insisting that no official discussions have taken place.

The speculation, which gained traction in recent hours, claimed that the two clubs could combine as part of structural changes within Egyptian football. However, senior officials at Al Ahly Bank have moved swiftly to clarify the situation, describing the reports as unfounded.

Chairman Denies Any Official Contact

Speaking to Batolat, the club’s chairman Ashraf Nassar categorically denied the existence of any negotiations or communication regarding such a move.

He stated: “The Ministry of Sports has not contacted us regarding a merger with Al Mansoura Club, and what has been said about that is completely false.”

Nassar’s remarks directly contradict the circulating claims, emphasising that the club has not received any form of official approach from the authorities.

Rumours Labelled as Speculation

The chairman went on to dismiss the reports as speculative, underlining that the club only responds to formal and verified communication channels.

He added: “All that is being said about a merger between Al Mansouri and the National Bank is mere speculation, and we only recognize official correspondence.”

His comments suggest that the club is seeking to distance itself from unverified reports that have spread across media platforms and social networks.

No Communication from Ministry of Sports

Nassar reiterated that, as of now, there has been no contact from the Ministry of Youth and Sports Egypt concerning any proposed merger.

He continued: “Up to this moment, we have not received any correspondence from the Ministry of Sports regarding this matter.”

This clarification appears to close the door, at least for the time being, on the possibility of an imminent merger between the two clubs.

Background to the Speculation

The rumours emerged amid broader discussions about restructuring within Egyptian football, leading to heightened interest in potential partnerships or mergers between clubs.

However, no official statements from governing bodies or involved parties had been issued prior to Nassar’s comments, leaving the reports unsubstantiated.

Al Ahly Bank’s firm denial now provides the clearest indication yet that such plans are not currently under consideration.

Focus Remains on Verified Decisions

With speculation continuing to circulate, Al Ahly Bank’s leadership has taken a definitive stance to dispel uncertainty and reaffirm its position. By insisting on formal communication as the only basis for decision-making, the club has signalled its intent to operate transparently and avoid being drawn into unfounded claims.

For now, the prospect of a merger with Al Mansoura appears to remain firmly in the realm of speculation rather than reality.
