Samu Costa heads for Riyadh before expected Al-Nassr announcement

Al-Nassr are expected to announce the signing of Portuguese midfielder Samu Costa within the next 48 hours after he was pictured at Mallorca airport preparing to travel to Saudi Arabia.

The 25-year-old, who currently plays for Real Mallorca, is understood to have agreed all the details of a move to the Saudi Pro League club. He will now undergo a medical and complete the formalities required before the transfer can be confirmed.

Spanish radio station Cadena SER reported that Costa’s departure for Riyadh marks the final stage of negotiations and puts him on course to become Al-Nassr’s first signing of the current summer transfer window.

Costa also told Cadena SER that he had reached a comprehensive agreement with Al-Nassr’s management over the move. The midfielder said the financial terms, contract length and additional clauses had all been settled, leaving only the medical examination and official paperwork to be completed.

Cadena SER published an exclusive photograph of Costa at Mallorca airport as he prepared to board a flight to Riyadh. He is expected to join Al-Nassr’s training camp after arriving in the Saudi capital, with the image increasing expectations that the club’s announcement is imminent.

Costa has made 108 official appearances for Real Mallorca in domestic and continental competitions since joining the club. During that time, he has established himself as an important presence in midfield and has been praised for his technical and physical qualities.

The Portugal international previously played for Spanish club Almeria and Portuguese side Sporting Braga earlier in his professional career. He later moved to Real Mallorca, where he became one of the mainstays of the team’s midfield.

A move to Al-Nassr would represent the fourth professional club of Costa’s career. The Saudi club expect his arrival to provide additional technical quality and tactical depth in midfield ahead of next season.

The transfer is expected to be formally announced during the next 48 hours, once Costa has completed his medical and signed the official contracts. His arrival would be the first step in a wider recruitment programme planned by Al-Nassr during the current summer window.

The club are preparing for a series of additions, with Costa’s proposed move now close to completion after an agreement was reached between all the parties involved. His journey from Spain to Saudi Arabia means the deal has moved beyond negotiations and into its final procedural stage.
