Egyptian giants Al Ahly SC are preparing to make important decisions regarding several players currently out on loan as the club continues planning for the future of the squad.
Club officials are reportedly reviewing the situations of a number of players whose long-term futures remain uncertain, with discussions focused on whether they should return to the squad, remain elsewhere, or be sold permanently.
One of the biggest names involved in the evaluation process is young Egyptian striker Hamza Abdel Karim, who is currently spending time in the youth system of FC Barcelona.
The teenager joined Barcelona’s youth setup on loan under an agreement that reportedly includes an option for the Spanish side to sign him permanently for around €1.5 million, alongside additional financial conditions.
Abdel Karim has reportedly impressed during his spell in Spain, producing strong performances that have increased speculation surrounding his future.
Reports suggest even Barcelona first-team coach Hansi Flick has been monitoring the youngster’s development closely as interest around the striker continues to grow.
The forward’s progress has also attracted attention at international level.
Egypt national team coach Hossam Hassan recently included Abdel Karim in a preliminary squad list ahead of preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, further increasing discussion over the player’s rapid rise.
His inclusion has sparked debate over whether the youngster could soon make the step into senior international football despite still having limited experience at top-flight level.
Abdel Karim is not the only player currently under review by Al Ahly.
The club are also assessing the situations of several other players connected to the first team setup, including Reda Slim, Nedeljko Gradisar, Achraf Dari and Mohamed Dhaoui.
According to reports, each case is being studied individually, with club officials considering factors such as current performances, development potential, squad balance and long-term planning requirements.
Al Ahly are expected to reach final decisions after completing internal assessments and reviewing any possible transfer negotiations or buy-option discussions linked to the players.
The outcome could play a significant role in shaping the next phase of the club’s project as Al Ahly continue balancing their domestic ambitions with the pressure of competing consistently at continental level.
