According to the Iranian Football Federation, players and officials experienced significant delays at Los Angeles airport after returning from their opening fixture against New Zealand, a match that ended in an entertaining 2-2 draw.
The federation said the prolonged checks prevented the delegation from travelling as scheduled to the Mexican city of Tijuana, where the team has established its training camp and accommodation for the duration of the tournament.

The pair reportedly underwent extensive searches that delayed their movement and left them separated from the rest of the delegation.
While most members of the squad were able to continue their journey on time, Taremi and El Haoui were required to remain behind until official procedures had been completed.
