Zamalek are closing in on the appointment of a new foreign head coach, with the Egyptian giants expected to unveil their new manager in the coming days as preparations for the 2026/27 season intensify.
The White Knights have reportedly made significant progress in negotiations with their preferred candidate and are now finalising the details of an agreement that will usher in a new chapter at the club.
The incoming coach is expected to lead Zamalek’s bid for domestic and continental success, with the appointment set to be one of the club’s first major decisions ahead of the new campaign.
As part of their pre-season plans, Zamalek will begin preparations in Egypt before heading abroad for a training camp.
The club is currently weighing up offers from Saudi Arabia, Spain and Turkey to host the overseas camp, with a final decision expected shortly. The camp will allow the new coach to assess the squad, implement his tactical ideas and prepare the team for the season ahead.
The coaching change will also bring an end to Moataz Gamal’s spell with the club after Zamalek opted to pursue a different direction.
Despite his departure, the club is expected to honour all of its financial obligations, including settling his outstanding dues and paying his league title bonus.
Gamal had attracted interest from several clubs in recent weeks and was reportedly open to remaining at Zamalek following a successful period in charge. However, the club’s hierarchy has decided that a new manager is best suited to lead its long-term project.
With the coaching appointment nearing completion, Zamalek are expected to turn their attention to strengthening the squad before the transfer window closes.
The club hopes the combination of a new manager, targeted signings and a structured pre-season will provide the platform for a strong 2026/27 campaign both domestically and in African competition.
