Zamalek begin Algeria preparations ahead of CR Belouizdad clash

Arrival in Algiers Signals Start of Key Preparations

Zamalek SC have begun their preparations in Algeria ahead of a crucial African Confederation Cup semi-final, with the squad holding their first training session on Tuesday evening following their arrival in Algiers.

The Egyptian side landed in the Algerian capital earlier in the day after a flight lasting approximately four hours. The delegation is being led by the club’s vice-president, Hisham Nasr, as attention turns fully to the upcoming encounter against CR Belouizdad.

First Training Session Scheduled at Nelson Mandela Stadium

The technical staff, headed by Moataz Gamal, opted to hold the team’s opening session on Algerian soil later in the evening, as part of their immediate build-up to the match.

Training is set to take place at 20:30 Egypt time on the auxiliary pitch of Nelson Mandela Stadium. The session is expected to focus on tactical organisation and physical readiness as the players adapt to local conditions.

This early training opportunity is viewed as a key step in ensuring the squad is fully prepared for what is anticipated to be a demanding fixture against a strong Algerian opponent.

Semi-Final Fixture Details Confirmed

Zamalek will face CR Belouizdad in the first leg of the Confederation Cup semi-final on Friday, 10 April. The return leg is scheduled for 17 April at Cairo International Stadium, where the Egyptian club will aim to capitalise on home advantage.

The two-legged tie is expected to be closely contested, with both sides seeking a place in the final of the continental competition.

Route to the Semi-Final

Zamalek secured their place in the last four after overcoming AS Otoho in the quarter-finals. The Egyptian club progressed with a 3-2 aggregate victory, demonstrating resilience across both legs.

That result has set the stage for their latest challenge, with expectations high as the team looks to continue its campaign on the continental stage.

Focus on Execution in High-Stakes Encounter

With preparations now underway in Algiers, Zamalek’s focus will be on fine-tuning their approach ahead of the first leg. The coming days will be critical in determining how effectively they can execute their strategy against a competitive opponent.

As the semi-final approaches, the emphasis remains on readiness, discipline, and delivering a strong performance away from home before returning to Cairo for the decisive second leg.
