Youcef Douar: Algeria defender joins USM Khenchela on free transfer

Algerian centre-back Youcef Douar has joined USM Khenchela on a free transfer from ES Setif as the Ligue 1 side strengthens its defensive options ahead of the new campaign.

The 28-year-old, born in Oran and standing at 1.80m, moves after two seasons with Setif, where he arrived from Paradou AC, also on a free. A right-footed central defender, he signs for Khenchela with an established record of top-flight experience in Algeria.

Douar has amassed 169 Ligue 1 appearances, scoring twice and providing one assist, as well as featuring in domestic cup competitions and the CAF Confederation Cup. He has played more than 13,700 minutes in the league, underlining his status as a regular starter across multiple seasons.

His senior career was built at Paradou, where he progressed from the club’s U21 set-up into the first team in 2017, before earning a move to ES Setif in 2024. The switch to Khenchela marks the third senior club of his professional career.

USM Khenchela have not disclosed contract details, but the move confirms Douar will continue in Algeria’s top tier after leaving Setif at the end of his deal.
