Yoane Wissa struggles at Newcastle fuel transfer speculation

The future of Yoane Wissa at Newcastle United F.C. is reportedly uncertain, less than a year after the striker joined the club in a high-profile transfer.

The Congolese international arrived last summer from Brentford F.C. in a deal reported to be worth close to €60m. He was signed to help fill the gap left by the departure of Alexander Isak to Liverpool F.C..

However, the 29-year-old has struggled to make a significant impact during his first season at the club.

Across all competitions, Wissa has scored three goals in 21 appearances. In the Premier League, he has found the net only once in 12 matches, figures that have fallen short of expectations for a player signed to strengthen Newcastle’s attacking options.

His limited goal return has fuelled speculation that the forward could leave the club during the upcoming transfer window.

Reports suggest that Fenerbahçe S.K. are among the teams monitoring his situation as they consider potential reinforcements in attack.

While there has been no confirmation of a formal approach, the Turkish side are believed to be keeping a close watch on developments surrounding the striker’s future.

Wissa’s current market value is estimated to be around €30m, significantly lower than the reported fee Newcastle paid to secure his services from Brentford.

The forward’s campaign has also been affected by an injury setback earlier in the season. He suffered a serious knee injury while on international duty with DR Congo national football team, an issue that disrupted his adaptation at Newcastle during the early stages of the campaign.

Since returning to fitness, the striker has struggled to rediscover consistent form in front of goal.

His situation has become one of the most discussed topics among Newcastle supporters this season, with many debating whether the forward can still establish himself at the club or if a move elsewhere could offer him a fresh start.

For Newcastle, the coming transfer window may prove decisive. The club must determine whether to continue backing the striker or consider offers should interest from other clubs materialise.

For now, Wissa remains part of the squad, but speculation surrounding his future is likely to continue as the season progresses and clubs begin preparing for the next transfer window.
