Walid Cheddira: Napoli’s Morocco-Italy striker linked with Padova move

Walid Cheddira, the Morocco-Italy centre-forward currently at Napoli, is being linked with a summer move to Serie B side Padova. The 28-year-old, whose contract with the Italian champions runs until June 2028, is understood to be on Padova’s shortlist as they look to add top-flight experience to their attack.

Cheddira returned to Napoli this summer after a loan spell at Lecce in the 2025-26 season, the latest in a series of temporary moves since he joined the club from Bari in August 2023 for €3m. He previously had loans at Frosinone, Espanyol and Sassuolo, giving him exposure to both Serie A and La Liga, as well as regular minutes outside Naples.

The striker has made 70 appearances in Serie A, scoring 11 goals, while his most prolific spell came in Serie B, where he hit 17 goals and provided seven assists across 31 games. That second-tier record is thought to be a key factor in Padova’s interest as they assess forwards with a proven scoring touch at that level.

Born in Loreto and standing at 1.87m, Cheddira has built a reputation as a right-footed central attacker capable of leading the line, and he was part of the Napoli squad crowned Italian champions in the 2024-25 season. His current market value is estimated at around €2m, a figure that would place him within range for ambitious Serie B clubs, though Napoli are under no pressure to sell given the length of his deal.
