Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior is unlikely to be available for the club’s meeting with Barcelona after being sent off against Villarreal.
Journalist Mario Cortegana reports that Vinicius is set to receive a suspension of at least two matches following his dismissal in Real Madrid’s 1-0 victory over Villarreal in the eighth round of the league season.
The ban could be extended to three matches because of the Brazilian’s reaction to the red card. Vinicius was dismissed for grabbing an opponent by the hair.
Real Madrid are scheduled to face Barcelona one round after their home fixture against Sevilla, meaning Vinicius is likely to miss the El Clasico if the expected suspension is confirmed.
Before then, Real Madrid will travel to face Italian club Roma in the second round of the Champions League on 14 October. The match is scheduled to begin at 22:00 Moscow time.
