French forward Karim Benzema has declared that winning more trophies remains the objective for Al-Hilal after helping the club secure the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup title.
Al-Hilal defeated Al-Kholood Club 2-1 on Friday evening at Al-Inma Stadium in Jeddah to lift the trophy for the tenth time in the club’s history.
The final saw Benzema play a central role as Al-Hilal recovered from a difficult start to secure victory, continuing the impact he has made in decisive matches since joining the Saudi side during the previous transfer window.
The success also provided Al-Hilal with a major domestic title at a crucial moment in the season, just days before the team’s highly anticipated Riyadh derby against Al-Nassr FC in the Roshn Saudi League.
Speaking after the match, Benzema praised his team’s determination throughout the final.
He said: “We played a strong game for 90 minutes, and we were able to fight until the last moments, which ultimately gave us the opportunity to win the title.”
The French striker also described the trophy as an important personal milestone following his arrival in Saudi Arabian football.
“I am very happy to have won my first championship with the team. This is an important achievement for me, but it is certainly not the end of the road, but rather the beginning of a phase in which we aspire to more titles,” Benzema added.
The victory has been viewed inside the club as a significant achievement after Al-Hilal managed to rescue their domestic campaign with silverware ahead of a critical final stretch in the league season.
Celebrations reportedly continued inside the Al-Hilal camp after the triumph, with players and staff now quickly turning their attention toward the title race in the league.
Benzema stressed that the squad remains fully focused on achieving further success before the season concludes.
He said: “We have bigger goals this season, and we are working hard to continue winning. We know the road will not be easy, but we are ready to face the challenge until the end.”
The former Real Madrid CF striker also highlighted the importance of the upcoming league fixtures, beginning with the clash against Al-Nassr.
He concluded his remarks by saying: “We have three important league matches ahead of us, starting with the battle for victory, and we will strive to achieve victory. We will approach all matches with strength. Our goal is clear: to make Al-Hilal fans happy and win the Roshan Professional League title, especially given the strong competition until the last moments.”
The Riyadh derby is now expected to carry major significance in the title race, with Al-Hilal aiming to maintain momentum after their cup success.
Benzema’s influence since arriving at the club has continued to grow, particularly in high-pressure matches, and his performance in the King’s Cup final reinforced his importance to Al-Hilal’s ambitions during the closing stages of the season.
With the cup secured and the league title still within reach, Al-Hilal now face a defining period in their campaign as they pursue further domestic glory under growing expectations from supporters.
