Tottenham close to signing Egypt forward Omar Marmoush from Manchester City

Tottenham are close to completing a deal to sign Egypt international Omar Marmoush from Manchester City, with the forward set to initially join the London club on loan.

The proposed agreement includes a purchase clause that can be triggered when specific sporting targets are achieved. If the conditions are met, the move would become permanent, with the overall value of the transfer expected to reach between €58m and €64m, including potential bonuses.

Marmoush has already agreed personal terms with Tottenham and is expected to join Roberto De Zerbi’s squad once the remaining formalities are completed.

The 27-year-old’s move is therefore structured as an initial temporary transfer rather than an immediate permanent deal. However, the arrangement could ultimately lead to a long-term commitment between the Egyptian forward and the Premier League club.

If the purchase clause is automatically activated after the agreed sporting objectives are reached, Marmoush is expected to sign a contract keeping him at Tottenham until June 2031.

The final stages of the transfer are now focused on the player’s medical examination and the completion of the necessary documentation.

Marmoush is expected to undergo his medical within the next 48 hours. Provided there are no issues, he will then sign the paperwork required to formally complete the move from Manchester City.

For Tottenham, the agreement provides an opportunity to bring in an established Egypt international while delaying the permanent transfer fee until the sporting conditions attached to the deal have been satisfied.

The potential cost of the move, including bonuses, could rise to €64m, with the lower figure understood to be around €58m.

The structure also gives Tottenham a clear pathway to make Marmoush a permanent member of their squad if he achieves the targets set out in the agreement.

For Manchester City, the arrangement would see the forward leave the club initially on a temporary basis, while retaining a deal that could result in a significant transfer fee if the purchase clause is activated.

Marmoush’s personal terms with Tottenham have already been settled, leaving the medical and final paperwork as the principal outstanding steps.

The Egyptian forward will now wait for those procedures to be completed before officially beginning his next chapter in north London.

If everything proceeds as expected, Marmoush will join a Tottenham side managed by De Zerbi and could eventually commit his future to the club until 2031.

The transfer therefore remains subject to the successful completion of the medical and formal documentation, but Tottenham are now close to securing the Egypt international from Manchester City.
