South Africa centre-back Sphiwe Msimango has joined Stellenbosch FC from Kaizer Chiefs, completing a move between two Betway Premiership clubs.
The 29-year-old defender made the switch on 4 August 2026 and will continue his career in South Africa’s top flight after three seasons with Kaizer Chiefs. Msimango’s arrival adds an experienced central defender to Stellenbosch’s squad as the new campaign gets under way.
Msimango was born in Brakpan, Gauteng, and stands at 1.90m. He is a right-footed centre-back and has represented clubs exclusively in South African football during his senior career.
He joined Kaizer Chiefs from TS Galaxy on 3 July 2023. Before that move, Msimango had spent three seasons with TS Galaxy after joining from Highlands Park in September 2020. His earlier career included a spell with Johannesburg.
Msimango’s time at Kaizer Chiefs included a Nedbank Cup triumph in the 2024-25 season. The defender now moves to Stellenbosch after Chiefs’ league campaign had begun, with his new club also competing in the Betway Premiership.
The transfer brings together a player with experience at several established South African clubs and a Stellenbosch side competing in the same domestic division. Msimango’s defensive role and physical presence provide the clearest outline of what he offers his new team, although no details of his contract have been disclosed.
