South African winger Keletso Makgalwa has joined Tanzanian giants Simba SC from Sekhukhune, completing a move that takes the 29-year-old out of the Betway Premiership and into East African football. The left-sided attacker, who prefers to operate off the flank, links up with Simba after a spell in South Africa’s top flight in which he established himself as a consistent wide option.
Makgalwa leaves Sekhukhune having arrived there in 2024 from Upington City, where he had rebuilt his career following a brief period without a club earlier in the 2023-24 season. His switch to Upington had come shortly after his departure from Mamelodi Sundowns, the club where he first broke through at senior level.
Born in Mokopane, Limpopo, and standing at 1.70m, Makgalwa brings top-level South African experience and continental know-how to Simba. Across league and cup competitions, he has made more than 150 senior appearances, including outings in both the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup, where he has previously found the net.
His time at Sundowns was marked by silverware, with three South African league titles and a national cup triumph on his CV. Loan spells at Maritzburg United, Moroka Swallows, TS Galaxy and All Stars added regular minutes and exposed him to a range of tactical systems before his permanent move away from Sundowns.
With a current market value of €1.2 million, Makgalwa’s arrival strengthens Simba’s attacking options on the wing as he begins a new chapter in Dar es Salaam following his transfer from Sekhukhune.
