Semenyo nominated for Premier League Player of the Season

Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo has been nominated for the 2025/26 Premier League Player of the Season award after a campaign that has seen him emerge as one of the division’s most influential attacking players.

The 25-year-old earned recognition following a season of impressive performances for both AFC Bournemouth and Manchester City, contributing goals and assists while adapting successfully to life at two different clubs during the same campaign.

Semenyo has scored 16 goals and provided four assists in 35 Premier League appearances, statistics that have highlighted his growing importance in English football and strengthened his reputation as one of Ghana’s leading talents abroad.

The forward began the season at Bournemouth, where he quickly established himself as a key attacking figure. His combination of pace, physical strength and direct running caused persistent problems for opposing defenders and made him one of the league’s standout forwards during the first half of the campaign.

His form attracted widespread attention and ultimately led to a high-profile transfer to Manchester City in January. The reigning champions moved to secure his services midway through the season as they sought to strengthen their squad during another title challenge.

Despite arriving during the middle of the campaign, Semenyo settled quickly into manager Pep Guardiola’s tactical system and became an important part of the squad at the Etihad Stadium.

The Ghana international delivered several decisive performances following his arrival and continued the consistent form that had made him such an influential player at Bournemouth earlier in the season.

One of the most notable periods of his campaign came in February, when Semenyo scored three goals and added one assist in five league matches. His displays during that month earned him the first EA SPORTS Premier League Player of the Month award of his career.

Semenyo’s ability to operate in multiple attacking positions has also been regarded as one of his major strengths throughout the season. Comfortable playing on either wing, through the centre as a striker, or in deeper midfield areas, he has demonstrated a versatility that has allowed him to adapt effectively to different tactical demands.

His work rate, physical presence and tactical awareness have further enhanced his value, particularly within Guardiola’s system at Manchester City, where flexibility and positional discipline are highly prized.

The nomination for the Premier League’s top individual award represents another milestone in Semenyo’s rapid rise in English football and further underlines the progress he has made in recent seasons.

His development has also become a source of inspiration for many young footballers in Ghana, with the Black Stars attacker continuing to establish himself on one of football’s biggest stages.

With his confidence continuing to grow and his influence increasing at club level, Semenyo’s latest recognition is likely to strengthen expectations that he can achieve even greater success in the coming years.

The nomination caps a memorable campaign for the forward, whose performances for both Bournemouth and Manchester City have placed him among the Premier League’s most effective attacking players this season.
