The preparations of Ghana for their upcoming friendly against Wales received a further boost with the arrival of forward Antoine Semenyo, taking the number of players in camp to 25 as the Black Stars continue their build-up towards the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The attacker linked up with the squad in Wales on Saturday evening, joining team-mates already involved in preparations ahead of Tuesday’s match at Cardiff City Stadium.
His arrival comes as head coach Carlos Queiroz continues to assemble his squad and fine-tune his plans for both the friendly encounter and the challenges that lie ahead on the road to the World Cup in North America.
Semenyo wasted little time integrating into the camp, taking part in team activities shortly after reporting for duty. He is also expected to be involved in the squad’s training session at Dragon Park as Ghana’s preparations gather momentum.
The Black Stars have been gradually building their numbers in camp over recent days, with several senior and established internationals already participating in training sessions.
Among those currently with the squad are captain Jordan Ayew, Thomas Partey and Inaki Williams, as well as Ernest Nuamah, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Kamal Deen Sulemana, Caleb Yirenkyi, Christopher Bonsu Baah and Brandon Thomas-Asante.
The presence of several experienced players has provided Queiroz with a strong foundation as he looks to mould a competitive team ahead of the upcoming fixtures.
Ghana’s goalkeeping department is also fully represented, with Benjamin Asare, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Joseph Anang and Solomon Agbasi all reporting to camp.
In defence, Baba Abdul Rahman, Gideon Mensah, Alidu Seidu, Abdul Mumin, Jerome Opoku and Jonas Adjetey are among the players currently preparing with the national team.
The midfield group includes Elisha Owusu, Kwasi Sibo and Paul Reverson, while Prince Kwabena Adu and Marvin Senaya are also continuing their preparations alongside the rest of the squad.
With the number of players in camp continuing to increase, the coaching staff now have a broader selection pool as they work towards finalising plans for the friendly against Wales.
The match, scheduled for 2 June in Cardiff, is expected to provide Ghana with a valuable test as the team continues its preparations for future international assignments, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Training sessions in Wales have focused on integrating players into the squad and building cohesion ahead of the encounter. The arrival of Semenyo adds another attacking option to the group and further strengthens the squad as preparations enter a crucial phase.
For Queiroz and his coaching staff, the coming days will offer an opportunity to assess the readiness of the players and refine tactical plans before taking on Wales.
As anticipation builds ahead of the Cardiff meeting, Ghana’s squad is nearing full strength, with Semenyo’s arrival representing the latest positive development in the Black Stars’ preparations for both the friendly fixture and their longer-term World Cup ambitions.
