Pedro Leitao Brito, better known as Bubista, has set his sights on winning trophies with RS Berkane after being appointed the club’s new head coach.
The 56-year-old Portuguese coach said he was proud to take charge of the Moroccan side and hoped to celebrate success with the club’s supporters at the end of the season.
“It’s a great honour to be here and to take charge of RS Berkane. We hope our fans will support us throughout this season,” Bubista said in comments published by the club’s official Facebook account on Tuesday.
He added: “I want to achieve many things with RS Berkane, so that we can celebrate with our fans at the end of the season… Dima Berkane.”
The Moroccan website Albotola reported that Bubista has agreed a contract with RS Berkane until 2028, following negotiations that lasted several weeks.
His appointment comes after a notable spell in charge of Cape Verde, whose national team became one of the surprise stories of the 2026 World Cup. Bubista guided the Blue Sharks through the group stage during their first appearance at the tournament.
Cape Verde then pushed Argentina close in the last 32, producing a performance that caused problems for the South American side before Messi’s team eventually secured a narrow 3-2 victory after extra time.
That World Cup run helped raise Bubista’s profile before his move to RS Berkane, where he will now attempt to build on the club’s recent achievements and compete for further honours.
Speaking in his first public comments since taking the job, Bubista placed particular emphasis on the relationship between the team and its supporters. His message ended with “Dima Berkane” – a phrase meaning “Berkane forever” – underlining his desire to connect with the club’s fanbase from the beginning of his tenure.
The Portuguese coach’s agreement, if confirmed through to 2028 as reported by Albotola, represents a long-term commitment from RS Berkane after the two sides completed several weeks of discussions.
Bubista will now begin his work with the Moroccan club with the stated ambition of making the end of the campaign a celebratory occasion for the team and its supporters.
