Stellenbosch FC linked with Kaizer Chiefs II defender Gopolang Taunyana

South African centre-back Gopolang Taunyana, 20, is the subject of a transfer rumour linking him with a move from Kaizer Chiefs II to Stellenbosch FC in the Betway Premiership.

The reported interest concerns a domestic move for the defender, who currently represents Kaizer Chiefs II. There has been no confirmation that an agreement has been reached, and the rumour does not include a transfer fee or proposed contract details.

Taunyana joined Kaizer Chiefs II from the club’s youth set-up on 1 October 2024. He has remained with the reserve side since then, with Stellenbosch now being linked with a potential move for the player.

The defender also won the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations with South Africa in 2025. That is his only listed international honour, and the available information does not include senior appearances for the national team.

Stellenbosch compete in South Africa’s Betway Premiership, while Taunyana’s current club is Kaizer Chiefs II. The proposed switch would therefore keep the 20-year-old in South African football, although the status of the reported move remains unconfirmed. Taunyana continues to be a Kaizer Chiefs II player.
