Real Oviedo open to offers for Haitham Hassan after world cup performances

Real Oviedo have acknowledged growing transfer interest in Egyptian international Haitham Hassan following his impressive performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup but insist the midfielder remains a key part of the Spanish club’s plans unless a suitable offer is received.

A senior source at the club told WinWin that Hassan’s displays on the international stage have naturally attracted attention from several teams during the summer transfer window, although the Spanish side has yet to make any decision regarding his future.

The comments come after media reports linked the 24-year-old with potential moves to Scottish champions Celtic and French side Marseille following his standout performances for Egypt at the World Cup.

World Cup Displays Raise Profile

Hassan enhanced his reputation during Egypt’s World Cup campaign, featuring in matches against Australia and Argentina.

The midfielder caught the eye with his performances and played a key role in creating a goal during Egypt’s meeting with Argentina, whose squad included Lionel Messi.

His contributions during the tournament have increased interest in his services, prompting questions over whether he could leave Real Oviedo before the start of the new season.

Club Confirms Interest

Speaking to WinWin, a source at Real Oviedo confirmed that clubs had begun making enquiries about the Egyptian international following his performances on football’s biggest stage.

“As expected, Haitham Hassan’s outstanding performance has attracted the interest of several clubs to sign him during the current transfer window.”

Despite the reported interest, the club stressed that Hassan remains under contract and continues to be regarded as a Real Oviedo player.

The source added: “Despite this interest, he is in every respect a Real Oviedo player, but it is logical that if a good offer arrives that is of interest and suits all parties, it will certainly be studied.”

The comments suggest the Spanish club is not actively seeking to sell the midfielder but would be willing to consider proposals that satisfy both the club and the player.

No Details on Interested Clubs

Although reports have linked Celtic and Marseille with the Egyptian international, the Real Oviedo representative declined to discuss specific clubs or reveal details of enquiries received.

Instead, the source said: “There are clubs that have already inquired about the player, but we will not go into details about the names of the clubs that have recently inquired about the player.”

The club therefore stopped short of confirming the identities of any interested teams while acknowledging that approaches have been made.

Oviedo Decline to Set Asking Price

The source also addressed speculation surrounding Hassan’s valuation and future ambitions, explaining that the player has not yet returned to the club following the conclusion of Egypt’s World Cup campaign.

According to the source: “The player has not returned to the club yet (after the end of his World Cup campaign), but we know very well that he is happy in Oviedo, and we are also happy to have him with us. As for the financial valuation of his sale, we cannot give an exact figure, but we place a very high value on Haitham Hassan’s footballing and technical value, and that is why we bet on signing him from the beginning.”

The remarks underline the club’s confidence in Hassan’s ability while indicating there is no predetermined transfer fee attached to the midfielder.

Contract Situation

Hassan is 24 years old and is currently valued at 3.5 million euros.

He remains under contract with Real Oviedo until the summer of 2027 following the club’s relegation to the Spanish Second Division.

While transfer speculation is expected to continue after his World Cup performances, Real Oviedo’s current position is clear: the Egyptian international remains part of the squad, and only an offer deemed beneficial to all parties would prompt the club to consider his departure.
