Real Madrid have submitted a €100m bid for 19-year-old RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, triggering one of the most intense transfer battles of the summer window and disrupting Paris St-Germain’s plans to sign the Ivory Coast international.
Diomande had been on the verge of joining Paris St-Germain, with talks at an advanced stage during the last World Cup, but Real Madrid’s formal offer has shifted the landscape – particularly as their attempts to sign Michael Olise from Bayern Munich have stalled.
According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Madrid view Diomande not as a stopgap but as a major alternative to Olise, and one capable of making an immediate difference at the highest level.
