Real Madrid have taken a significant step towards signing Yan Diomandé after reaching a verbal agreement on personal terms with the 19-year-old Ivory Coast winger, although a deal with RB Leipzig has yet to be completed.
According to multiple reports, Madrid have made an initial offer worth €90 million plus €10 million in add-ons, but Leipzig rejected the proposal as they continue to demand a higher fee. Negotiations between the two clubs remain ongoing.
PSG, Liverpool and City interest
Paris Saint-Germain had previously reached a verbal agreement on personal terms with Diomandé earlier in the transfer window but have so far been unable to agree a transfer fee with Leipzig. Real Madrid have since moved ahead in the race by securing the player’s approval.
Liverpool were also linked with the winger, while Manchester City are no longer considered active contenders for his signature.
Deal not yet completed
While reports suggest Diomandé is expected to join Real Madrid if the clubs reach an agreement, there is no confirmation yet that the transfer has been finalised, nor that medical tests have been completed. Club-to-club negotiations are continuing as Madrid attempt to bridge the gap with Leipzig’s valuation.
If completed, the highly rated Ivorian would become one of the biggest transfers of the summer and sign a long-term contract at the Santiago Bernabéu.
