Real Madrid have reached a full agreement to sign RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande in a transfer worth more than €100m, a move that could significantly reshape the future of Vinicius Junior and the club’s wider summer transfer strategy.
Spanish radio station Cadena SER reports that the Ivory Coast international is set to travel to Madrid in the coming days to undergo a medical and finalise a contract running until June 2031. Journalist Hector Gonzalez told the programme “El Larguero” that the deal could even be announced officially on Monday, allowing Diomande to link up immediately with the squad under new coach Jose Mourinho.
If confirmed, Diomande would become Real Madrid’s fifth major signing of the current transfer window, following the arrivals of Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, Bernardo Silva and Marc Cucurella. The scale and profile of the additions underline an aggressive rebuild as the club prepares for the new season.
Paris St-Germain pull out over costs
The long-running pursuit of Diomande accelerated after Paris St-Germain withdrew from the race. According to journalist Andres Onrubia, the French club issued a statement to the media confirming it had stepped away from negotiations due to what it considered excessive financial demands.
PSG were said to be uncomfortable not only with RB Leipzig’s asking price, but also with the proposed salary for Diomande and the commissions requested by intermediaries, which together were judged to exceed the internal limits set by the Ligue 1 champions. Their exit from talks removed Real Madrid’s main rival and cleared the path for the Spanish side to close the agreement.

Diomande’s expected arrival gives Real Madrid new tactical and strategic options in wide attacking areas, and directly affects the position of Vinicius Junior, whose contract situation is still unresolved.
