Ratcliffe misses Manchester United draw with Leeds to celebrate birthday on Zimbabwe golf trip

Sir Jim Ratcliffe was absent from Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Leeds after travelling to Zimbabwe to celebrate his 73rd birthday by playing golf, according to The Sun.

Ratcliffe followed his planned schedule rather than attending the match, as Manchester United’s difficult start to the season continued. The side have now gone six consecutive matches without a win in all competitions.

In his absence, Manchester United took the lead against Leeds but were unable to hold on, eventually conceding an equaliser and settling for a draw.

Ratcliffe travelled to Zimbabwe for his birthday on Sunday and played several rounds at some of the country’s golf courses. During the trip, he also discussed his visit with Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Tourism.

He spent time at both Hwange National Park and Mana Pools National Park, combining the golf holiday with visits to two of the country’s national parks.

The trip came after a chaotic week at Manchester United and provided Ratcliffe with an opportunity to unwind away from the club.

Manchester United’s next match is away to Como on Wednesday.
