Rasmus Højlund appeared to push Portugal manager Jorge Jesus after Denmark’s 4-2 defeat by Portugal in the Nations League at Copenhagen’s Parken Stadium on Thursday.
The Napoli striker made light contact with Jesus’ chest as the two teams exchanged greetings after the final whistle. The incident came shortly after Højlund had celebrated his goal in the style of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Højlund levelled the match at 2-2 in the 53rd minute before jumping and performing Ronaldo’s trademark “Siuuu” celebration. The moment attracted attention during an emotionally charged contest in Denmark.
Portugal had taken the lead in the 12th minute when Joao Cancelo found the net. Denmark equalised through Mikkel Damsgaard in the 23rd minute, but Portugal restored their advantage two minutes later.
Goncalo Ramos finished a move created by Bruno Fernandes to put the visitors back in front. Højlund’s second-half goal then brought Denmark level again, setting up a closely contested finish.
Vitinha headed Portugal’s third goal in the 67th minute, while Joao Felix settled the match with a fourth goal three minutes from full time.
The result gave Jesus’ side a third successive victory in the group and kept them on a perfect nine points.
The match carried extra significance because Ronaldo was absent. He left the Portugal camp one day before the fixture after tensions surrounding Jesus’ decision not to play him against Norway in the previous match.
Ronaldo had also been told he would not start against Denmark, adding to the circumstances surrounding his departure from the squad.
