Raphael Onyedika is expected to complete his move from Club Brugge to Eintracht Frankfurt after the two clubs reached a final agreement for the Nigeria international.
The 25-year-old midfielder was not included in Club Brugge’s squad for the Belgian Super Cup match against Union Saint-Gilloise, with the absence coming as negotiations over his transfer entered their final stage.
According to the latest information from Florian Plettenberg, Eintracht Frankfurt will pay €9m for Onyedika, with additional financial bonuses included in the agreement. All parties involved have been informed that the deal has been finalised.
Onyedika is due to undergo a medical examination within the next 48 hours before signing a contract with the German club that will run until 2031.
The move represents the culmination of a project that Eintracht Frankfurt’s management had been preparing for several months. The Bundesliga club had tracked Onyedika for a considerable period and moved ahead despite recent interest from Saudi Arabia, as exclusively reported by Africafoot.
A source from FC Ebedei, the Nigerian club where Onyedika began his career, also confirmed to Footy-Africa that the transfer was now practically complete.
Onyedika’s existing contract with Club Brugge was due to expire in June 2027. He is valued at €23m by Transfermarkt and earns an annual salary of €677,851, equivalent to 440,603,150 CFA francs.
The midfielder joined Club Brugge after developing through Nigerian football and has established himself as an international player for Nigeria. His next move will take him to Eintracht Frankfurt, subject to the completion of the medical and the formal signing of the contract.
There is a discrepancy in the available reporting over his age: he is described as 25 in the opening account, while a later reference lists him as 24.
