South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has praised the Premier Soccer League’s leadership for the organisation and success of the country’s top-flight competition during a visit to its offices in Parktown, Johannesburg.
Ramaphosa visited the PSL headquarters on Monday, 2 November, where he met chairman Irvin Khoza and chief executive Mato Madlala. The meeting focused on the league’s role in South African football and its reputation across the continent.
Particular attention was given to the stature of the Soweto Derby, which the president recognised as an important fixture both in Africa and internationally.
The African National Congress (ANC) said Ramaphosa made the visit as a courtesy call and acknowledged the PSL’s contribution to the development and administration of the game.
