Pyramids secure crucial win in five-goal thriller against Enppi

Pyramids FC strengthened their push for the Egyptian Premier League title with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Enppi Club in a dramatic encounter on Friday.

The match, played at the Air Defense Stadium, was part of the fifth round of the championship group and saw both sides deliver an intense contest. Pyramids ultimately emerged victorious after a back-and-forth battle, claiming three important points in the closing stages of the season.

Enppi made the brighter start and took an early lead in the 10th minute through Aktai Abdullah. The forward finished confidently after meeting a low cross from Ahmed Kalusha, giving his side an early advantage and putting pressure on their opponents.

Pyramids responded quickly. Just seven minutes later, Awda Al-Fakhoury equalised with a close-range header following a well-worked move involving Nasser Maher, whose run and delivery created the opportunity. The goal shifted momentum, with Pyramids beginning to impose themselves on the game.

Their growing dominance was rewarded in the 27th minute when Mostafa Zico completed the turnaround. Reacting sharply inside the penalty area, he slotted home to put Pyramids ahead for the first time in the match.

Enppi, however, remained resilient and found a way back before the interval. Ali Mahmoud converted from the penalty spot in the 38th minute, bringing the score to 2-2 and ensuring the contest remained finely balanced heading into the latter stages of the first half.

But Pyramids regained the lead in stoppage time before the break. Zico struck again in the second minute of added time, finishing confidently from inside the box after receiving a pass in a crowded area. His second goal of the match proved decisive.

The second half saw both teams push forward in search of further goals, but neither side was able to add to the scoreline. Pyramids focused on maintaining their advantage, managing the game effectively to see out the win despite continued pressure from Enppi.

The result has significant implications in the title race. Pyramids move up to 50 points, drawing level with league leaders Zamalek SC and increasing the pressure at the top of the table as the season enters its final phase.

For Enppi, the defeat leaves them in sixth place on 36 points. Despite a determined performance and moments of attacking quality, they were unable to secure a result that could have improved their standing.

With only a few matches remaining, Pyramids’ ability to respond under pressure and deliver in key moments could prove crucial. Their attacking threat, combined with resilience in tight games, keeps them firmly in contention as the battle for the Egyptian Premier League title intensifies.
