Protests have erupted in Sierra Leone, with supporters demanding the return of former head coach Mohamed Kallon weeks after his dismissal from the Sierra Leone national football team.
Fans gathered at the Approved School playing field on Sunday, voicing their frustration with the decision taken earlier this month by the Sierra Leone Football Association. Their message was clear and direct: “Bring Kallon back to the National Team.”

The demonstration highlights growing dissatisfaction among supporters following Kallon’s removal on April 3, a decision that many feel came too soon.
Chants, banners and visible emotion defined the protest, underlining the strong connection between the former coach and the local fanbase.

Kallon, who was appointed in February 2025 as part of the federation’s “Concept 2027” project, had been seen by many as a long-term figure capable of rebuilding the national team. His identity as one of Sierra Leone’s most celebrated football figures only deepened that trust, making his dismissal particularly contentious.
While the SLFA stated that the decision was made in the best interests of the team and signaled a shift in technical direction, the protests suggest that a section of supporters remains unconvinced. For them, the move represents a disruption to a project that had barely been given time to develop.
The timing of the protest also reflects wider concerns about the direction of the national team, with fans questioning whether stability is being sacrificed too quickly. With international fixtures approaching, uncertainty on the bench has only added to the tension.
Attention will now turn to how the federation responds, not only in appointing a successor but also in addressing the growing unrest among supporters. For now, the message from the stands is unmistakable: many fans are not ready to move on from Kallon.
