Asked whether Ronaldo had been distracted and failed to notice what was happening, Pjanic explained that Allegri intervened from the touchline.
“Cristiano Ronaldo won the free kick, I think Meret got sent off for it. Max Allegri saw Cris on the ground touching his knee and immediately sent the physios on for treatment,” he said.
Pjanic said Allegri used the stoppage to remove Ronaldo from the situation and allow him to take the free-kick.
