Osasuna aim to turn Levante’s poor start into a home advantage in La Liga

Osasuna will host Levante in the second round of the 2026-27 La Liga season on 24 August, with the home side backed to claim victory after both clubs narrowly avoided relegation last term.

The fixture brings together two teams who finished only one place apart in the previous campaign. Osasuna ended the season in 17th position with 42 points, remaining above the relegation places only because of their superior additional statistics. Levante finished 16th, also collecting 42 points, and likewise survived by virtue of the relevant tie-break criteria.

Despite their difficult league campaign, Osasuna’s preparations for the new season produced a mixed but generally competitive record. The Pamplona-based club played six friendly matches during the summer, winning three, losing two and drawing one.

Their latest two outings ended without a victory. Osasuna were beaten 2-0 by Al Ain before responding with a 1-1 draw against Arenas Getxo. They will now be looking to convert their home advantage into three points when they face Levante in their second league match of the campaign.

Levante, meanwhile, began the new La Liga season with a heavy defeat. The club, known by the nickname “the Frogs”, travelled to Espanyol in the opening round but suffered a 3-0 loss. That result leaves Levante seeking an immediate response, although their first opportunity to recover will come away from home against an Osasuna side also looking for its first win of the campaign.

The match therefore carries early importance for both teams, particularly given their struggles last season. While Osasuna managed to stay in the division, their 17th-place finish left little margin for error. Levante’s late-season recovery proved enough to secure 16th place, but the 0-3 defeat by Espanyol has placed pressure on the visitors to improve quickly.

The prediction for this meeting favours Osasuna to take control of the contest and secure the points in front of their home supporters. The expectation is that the hosts will overcome Levante in what could be a closely fought encounter between two sides whose recent league records were marked by relegation concerns.

Osasuna are therefore being tipped to make the stronger start in this fixture, while Levante will aim to put their opening-day setback behind them. With the visitors already coming off a three-goal defeat and Osasuna having avoided defeat in their most recent friendly, the forecast points towards a home win on 24 August.
