Jaap Stam says Manchester City should be stripped of titles over Premier League financial breaches

Former Netherlands and Manchester United defender Jaap Stam has called for Manchester City to be stripped of titles as punishment for breaching the Premier League’s financial rules.

Manchester City have made a perfect start to the current Premier League season, collecting 18 points from their opening six matches to sit top of the table.

Their latest result was a convincing 3-0 away victory against Liverpool. The match was won by Enzo Maresca’s side, who maintained their position at the summit with six wins from six games.

Stam has suggested that removing titles would be an appropriate sanction for Manchester City’s alleged financial-rule violations.
