Orlando Pirates’ current and former players remain in the headlines during the international break, with Oswin Appollis reportedly being watched by French Ligue 1 club Strasbourg.
The 25-year-old winger has also been linked with Portuguese giants Porto, while his recent performances for Orlando Pirates have increased interest in his services.
According to ViaSiseko Gwewge, Strasbourg are monitoring Appollis’ form. He enhanced his reputation during South Africa’s 5-0 win over Eritrea, providing three assists. Appollis previously recorded the same achievement against Congo in 2024.
Mosimane’s unbeaten start with Bafana Bafana
Bafana Bafana have won all three of their matches since Pitso Mosimane took charge. South Africa defeated Eritrea and Guinea in AFCON qualifiers before beating Egypt 1-0 in a friendly in Cairo.
Mosimane has used the fixtures to assess different combinations and players. Brookleyn Poggenpoel, Puso Dithejane, Luther Singh and Tashreeq Matthews were among those selected against Egypt.
Lyle Foster made his Houston Dynamo debut last weekend after joining the club on loan from Championship side Burnley. However, the 25-year-old striker remains outside the Bafana Bafana set-up, raising questions over whether Mosimane sees him as part of his plans in the future.
Pirates prepare for MTN8 final
Orlando Pirates will attempt to retain the MTN8 when they face rivals Mamelodi Sundowns in the final on Saturday, 10 October.
Kick-off is scheduled for 15:00.
The match will give Pirates the opportunity to defend the crown they currently hold, while Mamelodi Sundowns will seek to claim the trophy from their domestic rivals.
Mbokazi returns ahead of schedule
Mbekezeli Mbokazi played 80 minutes for Chicago Fire in their recent MLS victory over Charlotte.
The 20-year-old defender suffered a thigh injury in July and was initially expected to miss the rest of 2026. However, the stocky left-footer has returned sooner than anticipated.
Mbokazi, who is affectionately known as TLB, produced a decisive moment in Chicago Fire’s 1-0 win away from home on September 27th, making a goal-line clearance to protect the points.
He is expected to be involved again when Bafana Bafana face Kenya on November 11th in an AFCON qualifier.
