Omar Marmoush has declared that Tottenham Hotspur can build on their 3-1 victory over Coventry City after scoring his first goal for the club and ending his six-match wait for a Premier League goal.
The Egypt international found the net in Tottenham’s seventh-round fixture of the 2026-27 English Premier League season, helping his side regain the lead against Coventry before going on to secure all three points.
Marmoush had gone without scoring in his previous six league appearances, but his goal against Coventry marked a personal milestone and came as Tottenham returned to winning ways.
Speaking after the match, the forward expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance and his own contribution, while stressing the importance of building on the result.
“We are very happy. We performed well during the last week, but we were unable to achieve victory. I am very happy to achieve our first victory today, and I am also happy to score my first goal with Tottenham. We will build on this victory.”
The Egyptian also told the BBC that the points gained were more important to him than his individual achievement.
“I am very happy that it paid off, but I am even happier with the three points we achieved today.”
Marmoush said Tottenham were taking lessons from their recent matches, despite struggling to turn some of their performances into victories. He believes the team can use the Coventry result as a foundation for improvement.
“I think we are learning from every game. As I said, we performed brilliantly in the first few weeks, but the results haven’t gone our way. This is just the beginning.”
The forward acknowledged that Coventry presented a difficult challenge, particularly because of their ability to attack quickly when possession changed hands. He also highlighted the importance of Ben Davies’ goal in helping Tottenham secure the win.
“They are a very good team, and they are good at attacking transitions. Things were not easy a bit, but Ben Davies’ goal gave us the three points and helped to slow down the pace of the game.”
Marmoush also spoke positively about working under Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi, saying the Italian coach has helped players improve through detailed instruction and personal support.
“I feel great. The coach helps us all and teaches us small details, and he also helps us on a personal level.”
The Egyptian, who is on loan from Manchester City to the London club until the end of the season, said he appreciated the energy De Zerbi brings to the team and the belief players have in the manager’s approach.
“I love the enthusiasm and passion that the coach gives to the team. We believe in the system we play with, and on the pitch we are a big family, and we will fight for each other until the end.”
Marmoush’s first Tottenham goal and the team’s victory over Coventry offer a positive moment for the forward after his recent wait for a league goal. His message was clear: Tottenham must now build on the result and carry that belief into their next matches.
