Manchester United face Como test with Michael Carrick under pressure

Manchester United travel to Como for their next Champions League fixture on Wednesday, with manager Michael Carrick under growing pressure after his side failed to win any of their past six matches in all competitions.

United have taken only one victory from seven Premier League games and sit 13th in the table. Their European campaign began with a 4-0 win over Sabah, but that was followed by a 2-0 defeat by Atletico Madrid.

The match will be played at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, with kick-off scheduled for 17:45 UK time.

Como go into the game in stronger domestic form after beating Fiorentina 3-1. That result lifted them to fifth in Serie A, where they have collected 14 points from seven matches.

They have also established a strong home record. Como have lost only once at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia in all competitions since February, recording six wins and three draws during that period.

The Italian club will be making their debut in the Champions League league phase, while the fixture is also their first against English opposition.

Como will be without Trevoh Chalobah, who has a muscular injury, as well as Moise Kean, who is nursing a shin problem, and Assane Diao, who has a thigh injury. All three are definitely ruled out for Wednesday’s match.

Manchester United also have several absentees. Manuel Ugarte is unavailable with a knee injury, Patrick Dorgu has a hamstring problem, Leny Yoro is suspended and Benjamin Sesko is ruled out because of a shin injury.

Ayden Heaven, who is ill, Kobbie Mainoo, Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw will all be assessed before kick-off. Mainoo and Shaw have unspecified problems, while Martinez is recovering from a thigh issue.

The teams have been listed as follows:

Como: Sanchez; Smolcic, Ramon, Chalobah, Valle; Milla, Perrone; Rodriguez, Baturina, Kaiki; Paz.

Manchester United: Lammens; Dalot, Yoro, Martinez, Heaven; Santos, Baleba; Mbeumo, Fernandes, Tielemans; Rashford.
