Olympic Safi were denied victory at home after FUS Rabat battled back to secure a 1-1 draw in the Moroccan Professional Championship on Monday evening.
The result came in the 20th round of the league campaign and leaves both sides with work still to do as the season continues.
Olympic Safi appeared on course for an important victory after taking the lead in the first half through Faraj Karmoun, who calmly converted a penalty in the 28th minute.
The hosts controlled key moments of the opening period and used the advantage to place pressure on their visitors heading into the break.
FUS Rabat, however, returned for the second half with greater urgency and gradually increased their attacking pressure in search of an equaliser.
Their persistence was eventually rewarded in the 76th minute when striker Ayoub Moulaoua found the back of the net to level the match and rescue a valuable point for the visitors.
The late equaliser shifted the momentum away from Olympic Safi, who were unable to regain their earlier control during the closing stages of the contest.
Despite efforts from both teams to search for a winning goal, neither side could find another breakthrough before the final whistle.
The draw leaves Olympic Safi in 14th position in the league standings with 14 points, a situation that keeps them under pressure in the lower half of the table as the campaign progresses.
FUS Rabat, meanwhile, moved up to eighth place with 26 points after securing the away result.
For Olympic Safi, the outcome represented a missed opportunity to collect maximum points on home soil and improve their standing in the league table.
FUS Rabat, on the other hand, will likely view the comeback as an encouraging response after trailing for much of the match.
Attention will now quickly shift away from league football as both clubs prepare for upcoming fixtures in the 2025/26 Throne Cup next weekend.
Olympic Safi are scheduled to face Dcheira on 16 May, while FUS Rabat will take on Rachad Bernoussi in their next cup assignment.
Both sides will hope to carry positive momentum into those fixtures as they continue their campaigns across domestic competitions
