Okoye shines as Udinese secure emphatic win over Milan

Udinese produced an impressive display to defeat AC Milan 3-0 at the San Siro, delivering one of the standout results of the Serie A weekend.

At the heart of the victory was goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, whose assured performance ensured his side recorded a third successive clean sheet in the Italian top flight. The Nigerian international has now kept eight clean sheets this season, further highlighting his importance in what has been a notable campaign for the club.

Udinese’s performance combined defensive discipline with attacking efficiency, as they controlled key moments of the match against a Milan side that began the day firmly in the title race. The visitors showed composure throughout, capitalising on their chances while restricting Milan’s attacking opportunities.

The result marks a significant achievement for Udinese under head coach Kosta Runjaic. It is only the second time during his tenure that the team has managed three consecutive clean sheets in Serie A, underlining a growing defensive solidity.

Beyond the immediate impact of the win, the victory also carries historical significance for Udinese. It is only the second occasion in which they have beaten both Milan clubs away from home in the same Serie A season, an accomplishment that reflects their progress and competitiveness during the current campaign.

Despite the defeat, Milan remain third in the table with 63 points, though the gap to league leaders Inter Milan has widened to nine points. The loss represents a setback in their pursuit of the top spot, particularly given the manner of the performance on home soil.

For Udinese, the three points lift them to 10th place with 43 points, strengthening their position in the middle of the table. The result adds momentum to their season and reinforces confidence within the squad as they continue to build under Runjaic’s leadership.

Much of the credit will go to Okoye, whose consistent displays between the posts have become a defining feature of Udinese’s recent success. His ability to organise the defence and produce crucial interventions has been instrumental in the team’s run of clean sheets.

As the Serie A season progresses, Udinese’s blend of resilience and efficiency could make them a difficult opponent for any side, while Milan will need to respond quickly to keep their ambitions on track.
