Newcastle United are reportedly the leading contenders to sign AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori when his contract expires at the end of the 2026/27 season.
The 28-year-old England international is expected to leave the Serie A club as a free agent, with AC Milan not planning to extend his deal beyond June 2027.
Tomori joined AC Milan permanently from Chelsea in 2023 after establishing himself as an important member of the squad. He has since made more than 200 appearances at San Siro and played a key part in the club’s 2021/22 title-winning campaign.
However, the defender has fallen out of favour with manager Ruben Amorim and has not made a league appearance so far this season.
Tomori has returned to the first-team squad after Matteo Gabbia suffered a long-term injury, but that has not changed Amorim’s position on the player’s future.
As a result, Tomori is considering a return to England when he becomes available without a transfer fee.
Football Insider reports that Newcastle United are currently at the front of the queue, having previously been unable to complete a deal for Tomori in July.
