Nayef Aguerd is close to leaving Olympique de Marseille, with Qatar Stars League side Al Sadd in the strongest position to sign the Morocco defender.
The two clubs are reportedly nearing an agreement over a deal for the centre-back, according to Foot Mercato. The proposed transfer would initially see Aguerd join Al Sadd on a paid loan costing €4m, with a mandatory purchase option worth an estimated €11m.
If completed on those terms, the total value of the operation would be €15m. The structure of the agreement would allow Olympique de Marseille to reduce its wage bill while also securing a significant financial return from the 29-year-old’s departure.
However, the transfer has not yet been finalised. Once the clubs have reached an agreement, Al Sadd will still need to persuade Aguerd to accept the sporting project and continue his career in Qatar.
Aguerd’s approval is required before the move can be completed. The Morocco international remains under contract with Olympique de Marseille until 2030, meaning the final decision will rest with the player after the two clubs settle the terms of the proposed deal.
Unless there is a late complication in the coming hours, Aguerd could become one of Al Sadd’s headline signings and begin a new chapter in the Qatar Stars League.

Aguerd is valued at €15m by Transfermarkt, matching the overall figure outlined for the proposed loan and purchase agreement. His current salary in France is reported to be €4,910,000 a year, equivalent to 3,191,500,000 FCFA.
For Al Sadd, the deal would represent an opportunity to bring in an established Morocco international, while Olympique de Marseille would benefit from both the immediate loan payment and the prospect of a further €11m transfer fee. The clubs are understood to be close, but Aguerd’s agreement remains the key step before the move can be made official.
