Musab Al-Juwayr joined Saudi Arabia’s celebrations after their 2-0 victory over the UAE in the Gulf Arab Cup “Gulf 27” final, despite having been left out of the squad for the tournament.
The Al-Qadsiah midfielder was excluded from Saudi Arabia’s training camp before the competition began for disciplinary reasons. However, he attended matches from the stands and supported his team-mates during their run to the title.
After the final whistle, Al-Juwayr went down to the pitch to celebrate with the players and coaching staff. He was also seen carrying the Saudi Arabian flag as the squad and supporters marked the victory.
His presence during the celebrations attracted attention for another reason, however, as he firmly declined attempts by media organisations to film him or obtain a comment.
Footage showed Al-Juwayr avoiding the cameras and refusing to make a media appearance while his team-mates celebrated the trophy and spoke to reporters. The moment became one of the most notable scenes from Saudi Arabia’s post-match celebrations.
A video of the incident was posted on social media by Nawaf Al-Asyawi on 6 October 2026, with the caption: “Musab Al-Juwayr refuses to appear in the media.”
